Parking Lot


Acid AMD seeps from the spoil ridge that borders the east side of the large gravel parking lot.  This parking lot used to be an end-cut lake/incline from the surface mine.

Trench The drainage way was widened to six feet and about six feet in depth to  groundwater.  The pH was 3.0 and 373 ppm acidity.  Acid water drains to the reservations one good lake, Crawford, and acid groundwater flows to Nordhron and Red Lakes.

Over 500 tons of rock rip-rap was added to the excavated drainage way along with 75 tons of Code H and L, commercial alkaline material, and calcium hydroxide.
